produced foods and high-value products that earn a premium in international markets and benefit human wellbeing. We are a collaborating partner in the New Zealand Food Safety Science and Research Centre and lead the 'Advanced diagnostic tools and analytics' theme for the Centre.
Our food safety science plays a critical role by supplying the horticulture and seafood sectors with methods to control microorganisms and prevent them from becoming a risk to food safety and market access.
Within our Food Safety & Preservation Team we have an exciting opportunity for a principal investigator to pursue new opportunities to support the horticulture sector with innovative science to understand and control associated foodborne pathogens.
You will have a significant role in building and maintaining our relationships with key clients and shaping relevant science strategies.
There will also be an opportunity for you to be involved in the planning, design and set-up of new food safety and preservation facilities for the Institute.
You'll have a high standard of relevant academic qualifications including a PhD in microbiology and will combine a strong publication record with at least 10 years proven experience in managing research, mentoring staff and students, engaging with stakeholders, and securing research funding.
Experience in the seafood and / or horticultural food safety or postharvest areas together with a well-developed understanding of the New Zealand science and innovation system and relevant industry sectors will be advantageous.
