We have a vacancy within our Resource Consents Department leading our Resource Consents team. This team is responsible for the regulatory aspects of the Resource Management Act 1991 and the team leader will play a key role in ensuring competent and timely administration of Council’s resource consent processing, including the assessment and issuing of consents related certificates, other approvals and administrative functions.

This role is expected to provide leadership to a team of Resource Planners, and Administrative Support Officers in leading by example to create and maintain a team culture with the desire and passion to provide the best service to our customers.

An important part of the role is to provide mentoring to the more junior members of the team. Candidates must have excellent relationship building skills, commercial acumen, and strong leadership.

About you :

The team’s focus is to ensure that resource consent applications are assessed and processed in a timely and accurate manner, whilst focussing on customer enquiries that are answered in a customer friendly way.

Providing technical support across Council’s other teams is also fundamental to the role.

It is essential that you have a suitable tertiary level qualification in resource management, at a degree or diploma level.

You will have membership of, or eligibility to join, the New Zealand Planning Institute, and at least two years staff management experience.

Experience in briefing lawyers and or / consultant is preferred and a current and valid drivers licence is essential.
