  • We are looking for an economist, social scientist or policy analyst who can lead and network and make the most of the growing profile of forestry and the bioeconomy! Scion specialises in research, science and technology development for the forestry industry, wood products and wood-

    derived materials. We lead new technology development for renewables, bioproducts and energy and the establishment of a broader based bio-economy.

    In this role you will lead economics, policy and social science research within the Enabling Environments Team. Reporting to the Science Leader, Forest Systems you will lead a transdisciplinary team in high quality research.

    You will have the opportunity to promote forestry and the emergence of a zero carbon bioeconomy in NZ. You will actively attract research funding and build productive collaborations with internal and external partners.

    What are we looking for? You will have :

  • Produced quality science and impact through your research
  • A PhD in Economics, Social Science or a related discipline with a focus on systems thinking, policy analysis
  • An indepth knowledge of the forestry sector
  • A high quality publication record
  • Knowledge of social research, soft systems, behavioural economics and policy analysis
  • Proven experience leading others
  • Expert knowledge of NZ's science system including the role and fit of National Science Challenges
