An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced midwife with a passion for breastfeeding to be part of a newly launched quality initiative with a strong health equity focus.
This position will launch and coordinate the pilot programme phase of Te Ara Whakawaiora, a quality and equity based initiative to increase exclusive breastfeeding rates at six weeks and positive health outcomes for our m?
ma, p?pi, wh?nau and region through a schedule of increased home visits with a breastfeeding support focus during the first two weeks of life.
Candidates must be committed to leading innovative practice, have knowledge of, and a demonstrated ability to achieve continuous improvement outcomes and work collaboratively across the health sector in partnership with health professionals and agencies.
Candidates will also be committed to ongoing professional development, excellence in all aspects of clinical care, and maintain a current midwifery annual practicing certificate.
To be successful in this role, the ability to demonstrate comprehensive maternity clinical experience, cultural awareness and responsiveness and the ability to lead and instigate change will be vital.
Effective communication skills that support positive change and a strong focus on contributing to the well-being of our tamariki and their wh?nau are also essential.
