Job Description

  • Contribute to the development, implementation of new processes and tools to ensure the successful delivery of the MBIE Privacy Programme
  • Provide analysis and support to the Privacy Programme
  • Support the development of reporting targets and frameworks and monitoring these to drive improvements in MBIE's performance and management of its personal information
  • Fixed term contract until end June 2019
  • We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst with the ability to work across the organisation, with a wide range of stakeholders, on the Ministry's privacy programme.

    The Business Analyst, Privacy Programme will bring their business understanding and perspective to work in partnership with Advisors their manager and other staff.

    The role includes secretariat functions to the Privacy Governance Groups, project documentation and reporting and monthly reporting for the Privacy Programme.

    You will need the ability to engage across MBIE at all levels and work to set a minimum standard for privacy at MBIE based on best practice and the needs of MBIE's business Groups, managers and staff.

    The Privacy Programme is a Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) wide initiative to set a minimum standard for privacy at MBIE, consistent with the organisation's obligations under the Privacy Act 1993 and the Government Chief Privacy Officers expectations.

    This will improve MBIE's privacy awareness and capability and move MBIE towards a whole of organisation approach to privacy.

    This is a fixed term opportunity as the result of the approval for continuation of the Privacy Programme for the 2018 / 2019 year.

    The programme will set a strong foundation for privacy and personal information management at MBIE.

    Skills and experience required :

    The Business Analyst - Privacy Programme will have :

  • Strong analytical skills
  • 1-2 years' experience of business analysis work including working with impact analysis, tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of business process design and analysis, preferably in government is desirable
  • A high standard of written English and ability to write papers and reports.
  • Experience developing and documenting sound business cases is desirable.
  • Ability to use computer software packages including project management, word processing and analytical tools.
  • Ability to work with numbers and cost out options to support recommendations with quantitative data.
  • Ability to clearly present analysis and ideas on paper.
