Who we are

We are the Division of Shared Services, a team of highly skilled professional staff responsible for delivering an outstanding student and staff experience through high quality, effective service delivery to all of the University’s internal and external customers.

Our team is focused on providing flexible Purchasing and Stores services across eight hubs of activity.

About the Role

This Purchasing Officer role within the Finance Services team is responsible for performing a wide range of purchasing activities.

You will receive and process purchase requests, help to identify appropriate suppliers while collaborating with your peers to identify opportunities for internal orders or purchases from other University departments.

Range of tasks include :

  • Finalising purchase requisitions for standard purchases as well as identifying the best and most appropriate payment methods.
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding order requirements.
  • Creating, maintaining and completing purchase orders.
  • Tracking shipments and addressing any delays. As appropriate ensure stores and customers are kept up-to-date with expected delivery schedules.
  • Preparing reports regarding purchasing activity including cost analyses.
  • The specific tasks in your role will vary depending on the portfolio of work you are focussing on. A more thorough list of portfolio related activities can be found in the position description.

    Your Skills and Experience

  • Exposure to working in a busy purchasing focused role.
  • A passion for customer service and delivering exceptional service to staff and students.
  • Strong Microsoft office and PC skills.
  • Previous experience working in an environment with high volume or a wide variety of stores or logistics activity.
  • Due to the nature of the Shared Services Division, the range of tasks and responsibilities is broad and may require performing duties at different workplaces or locations across campus.
