  • The New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) is recruiting for an Operational Liaison Manager within the Intelligence Directorate of the NZSIS.

    In this role, you will be responsible for leading and planning the delivery of effective and secure operational liaison activity.

    You and your team will have a pivotal role in obtaining both intelligence and facilitation / support from others to assist in the identification, understanding and mitigation of threats to New Zealand.

  • To be successful in this role, you need to be a leader of people not just functions. We want a Manager who;
  • Has superior interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to influence thinking and behaviour
  • Has experience building and maintaining positive and productive working relationships
  • Has a proven background in operational risk management and guidance
  • Can inspire and motivate their team and who is committed to staff development
  • Can exercise sound judgement to ensure scarce resources are used appropriately, proportionately and securely
  • Can comprehensively understand, lead and direct all intelligence activities your team contributes to
  • Can develop sound business processes in the context of the new Intelligence and Security Act 2017.

    While experience in intelligence is desirable, we also welcome applications from individuals who have had some exposure or an understanding of the Intelligence Community.

    Salary range : $89,936 - $134,905 depending on experience.

    To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years.

    Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

    You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken.

    Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
