Full time Fixed term until September 2019 We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist at Middlemore Hospital to provide clinical pharmacy services to surgical wards.

This role is available for a fixed period in order to cover for a staff member that is on maternity leave. Working within in multidisciplinary team setting you will be responsible for :

  • Providing clinical pharmacy services to our inpatients, including medicines reconciliation, clinical reviews, optimising therapy and facilitating discharge
  • Participating in ward services including providing support services to specialised areas within the department of surgery such as IV Nutrition and Burns Unit
  • Helping develop and mentor junior pharmacists undertaking surgical rotations
  • Providing supervision and daily coordination of ward pharmacists cluster
  • Contributing to safe and quality use of medicines, undertaking practice research and quality improvement audits and projects
  • Supporting other pharmacy activities such as supply and medicines information and participation in all service rosters including weekend, on-
  • call and late night roster

  • New Zealand Registered Pharmacist or eligibility to register
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of hospital experience and highly developed surgical pharmacy competencies
  • Post-graduate qualifications in clinical pharmacy or surgical pharmacy
  • Positive, proactive and have a can do’ attitude
  • Able to integrate into our vibrant team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work flexible hours (such as participating in our extended pharmacy service hours and weekend rosters)
