At Plant & Food Research we're combining traditional breeding approaches with modern genomics techniques to develop better cultivars, faster.
Within our New Cultivar Innovaton research portfolio, this position provides technical support for the pear breeding research programme in glasshouse, field nursery and orchard-based breeding trials.
This is an exciting opportunity to progress your research career by providing high quality technical support for our highly experienced team of pear breeders.
You'll have a range of responsibilities including raising and caring for seedling populations, orchard trial establishment, fruit harvest, disease and fruit evaluation as part of the data collection for analysis.
You'll apply your skills developed through the completion of a relevant undergraduate degree, diploma or technical qualification, or through equivalent horticultural experience.
You'll have some expertise in plant husbandry and / or tree fruit horticulture, and well developed computer and general laboratory skills.
