The Ministry of Education - Learning Support is seeking candidates who are able to demonstrate knowledge, experience and skills in supporting children and young people with learning needs, complex ongoing needs and significantly challenging behaviours.
The successful applicant will work as part of a multi-disciplinary collaborative team providing ecological assessment, intervention, training and upskilling to increase adult capability, and advising and supporting schools and early learning centres to provide inclusive practices that enable student success.
Strong teaming skills and the ability to work collaboratively, establish effective relationships with whānau, parents, families, educators and key providers working within the community is required.
A knowledge of Children's Teams would be beneficial.
An awareness and sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity, a strong commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and the Māori education strategy Ka Hikitia', are essential.
Psychologist applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the New Zealand Psychologist Registration Board.
A current driver's license is required. The Ministry of Education has an equal opportunities policy.
