General Manager, Procurement ACT

Third party product is a significant part of our business and we are looking for someone to drive this challenging and changing business.

Your role will encompass responsibility for the performance, productivity, development, future planning and sustainability (including focus on business growth) of the procurement business.

You will work closely with the other third party product leaders from across the Group, the external market and internal delivery teams to ensure the future of this business.

This role sits in the wider Sales team, and reports to our Associate Director Sales, and encompasses responsibility for hardware and software sales, and procurement sales operations.

We’re looking for a solid base of business management experience, along with a real vision and the drive to take the business forward, and the solid leadership and capability to manage the staff care and customer engagement components.

Key responsibilities include :

Leadership :

  • Be seen as a leader in the business through the promotion and encouragement of innovation, increased customer engagement and diversity of our product portfolio, with a focus on future sustainability
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership and direction
  • Build a reputation of quality and value both internally and externally
  • Enhance and evolve the businesses service offerings and sales / delivery models
  • Support the development of the third party product business across the Datacom Group
  • Champion quality management, process improvement and delivery of best practise.
  • Staff Care :

  • Foster an excellent team environment for your staff to work and grow in
  • Ensure staff development is an enduring element of the culture of the networking business
  • Provide full support to your team to help them manage competing or complex customer demands
  • Maximise the overall staff engagement of the procurement team
  • Make Datacom the preferred employer for procurement related people
  • Customer Management / Partnership Management :

  • Develop lasting relationships across our partner community (internally and externally) that foster continuity and closeness
  • Communicate effectively with customers to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships
  • Ensure services align to and meet or exceed customer expectations, in accordance with contractual and service agreements.
  • Financial Management and Planning :

  • Responsibility for the understanding and managing the commercial aspects of third party product management e.g incentive schemes, minimising return from product vendors etc
  • Management and responsibility for Business Profit and Loss
  • Financial and commercial management
  • Business growth, through Sales and Innovation
  • Promote innovation and sustainability as part of our core business model
  • Pipeline management and planning.
  • Strategy :

  • Develop strategies and policies to achieve the business goals and objectives that ensure operational quality, increased productivity, and return on investments
  • Promote future vision for customers of procurement and our third party partners
  • Align business goals and objectives with the wider Datacom strategy
  • Develop and document succinct and clearly defined business plans that reflect a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the business both strategically and operationally
  • Work collaboratively and pro-actively with peers to leverage and share knowledge and expertise within Datacom
  • Identify and develop key strategic relationships within Datacom and with partners, strategic suppliers and vendors.
  • Communication :

  • Keep team and management well informed of changes within the organisation
  • Effectively communicate relevant information to managers and peers in other business units
  • Tactfully communicate difficult / sensitive information
  • Proactively engage with senior management.
  • We’re looking for a smart and business saavy manager, who understands the challenges and opportunities connected with third party product management, with the energy and engagement skills to drive the business forward.

    Given the sales nature of this role we would be looking for you to come from a sales based environment, with the leadership skills to maximise the performance of our procurement sales and operational teams.
