About us :
Anatomic Pathology Service (APS)is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory and is the only community anatomicpathology laboratory in Auckland.
We are part of the state-owned AucklandDistrict Health Board and are located in Mount Wellington. We offer acomprehensive anatomic pathology service for the Auckland Region of 1.
4 millionpopulation. The service includes processing and reporting all samples, mainlyskins, from general practitioners and all samples originating in Auckland’s privatehospitals and clinics.
Additionally, APS is the acredited laboratory engaged incervical screening for the National Cervical Screening Program.
The laboratory is well equippedwith the latest technology and has strong established links with all relevantclinical teams and other laboratories around New Zealand and overseas.
The department processes over 400histology cases and 450 cervical smears per day (average of 900 paraffin blocks).Our serviceprovides frozen sections to Auckland’s private hospitals, generalpractitioners and Skin Specialists, Immunohistochemistry testing, Directimmunofluorescence testing (DIF), and Trephine sample processing.
Thedepartment processes work from the Veterinary laboratory and participates in numerousclinical trials.

The purpose of this role is to provide operational and strategicdirection to APS. This position willprovide overall leadership and manage the scientific staff, technology resourceand systems in order to achieve the departments business and operational goals.

About you :
This position is suited to anexperienced manager with strong leadership skills, and extensive operationalknowledge, who can communicate a vision for the future and inspiring commitmentto the goals of the department and organisation as a whole.
Ideally you willhave tertiary qualification in health service management or relevant facultyand sound knowledge of NZ health sector.
Our successfulcandidate will possess a well-developed ability to work professionally with arange of internal and external stakeholders.
We know you’ll be proactive,highly committed and service driven and be able to meet the demands of afast-paced role with ease.
You will be surefooted and need to be across thenecessary detail to manage complex issues and agile enough to make the most ofopportunities.
Your strong evidence of an ability to develop a culture ofinnovation, performance and transparency focused on the customer will beparamount.
Operational &strategic risks and governance, developing sustainable models of care, implementingbest practices and quality improvement initiatives will be key responsibilitiesof this role, alongside providing operational direction aligned with theAuckland DHB strategic priorities.
