St John's Youth Programme provides young people with the experience to gain confidence, empathy, life, health and leadership skills.

Reporting to the District Youth Manager, you will be responsible for managing members, resources and overall activities for the Youth Division in the Amata Fou District (Glen Innes, Maraetai, Beachlands).

A pivotal role in the Youth team, you will provide leadership, direction and on-going support to your managers and members to achieve the objectives of the District and Regional Youth Business Plan.

A team player with well-honed organisational skills, you will have a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships whilst ensuring the level of service delivered to youth and the community is consistent and of the highest quality.

About the role :

  • Assist the District Youth Manager to meet the requirements of the Youth Business Plan
  • Promote the youth programme to increase youth and adult membership
  • Provide on-going support and mentoring to your Divisions
  • Represent the District Youth Manager at Official Occasions
  • Conduct audits and inspections to ensure divisions are operating within their guidelines and St John policy
  • Organise and actively participate in District / Regional youth events and activities
  • Attend and stay at the occasional overnight camp and competitions
  • Some key requirements :

  • Prior experience in a leadership / management role developing others
  • An aptitude for working with a diverse demographic group e.g. age, culture, background
  • Be an active team player where prior contributions have made a difference
  • Prioritise your time / work load in order to meet deadlines
  • A proven ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships
  • Customer focussed with exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Have a natural talent for thinking and working outside the square
  • Contribute a minimum of two hours per week to the role and attend overnight camps from time to time
  • We are looking for an individual with a solid record of service delivery and success which does not have to be within the confines of St John.
