At PhysicalDisability Support Services (DSS) we create opportunities for people with adisability to live great lives reflecting their personal aspirations andchoices.

While most of our work is with people with disabilities; we also workwith people with complex support needs, who present with challenging behaviour,and may have involvement with disability, mental health or addictions.

We are looking forpositive people to become part of our proactive supportive teams, usually inresidential and respite homes.

It will be important that you appreciate theimportance of working cohesively as part of a team, following set plans andunderstand the importance of consistency in assisting people to achieve qualitylife outcomes.

We have a number ofpositions including both casual and permanentpart-time, working either fixed shifts or a rotating roster.


  • We will be holding aninformation evening on Wednesday 24th of October 6-7pm. One of the requirements on the night will be to complete police vetting forms;
  • therefore it will be important that you bring along two forms of ID (one ofwhich must be photo ID). You will receive further details regarding the list ofvacancies, venue and ID requirements, via email, on Monday 22nd October.

    Internalapplicants do not need to attend the information evening.


    Interviews will beheld on Thursday 25th of October should you wish tocontinue with your application.

    We’re looking for peoplewho have :

  • The ability to work with people who present withchallenging behaviours
  • Diversity to work with a range of people withdiffering levels of support needs
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality, be tactfuland sensitive in dealing with people
  • Commitment to professional development
  • An ability to work actively as part of a team andindividually to ensure service quality
  • A current full driver’s licence (preferably to driveboth automatic and manual vehicles)
  • Good English language ability (written andspoken)
  • Confidence in assisting with personal cares
  • Energy and enthusiasm.
  • Previous experience in the disability field and / orcommunity work is preferred. However, ifyou have the passion to work within this field, we offer in-

    service trainingwith ongoing professional development towards a national qualification.

    Your hourly rate willbe $19.80 to $24.50 dependent upon your qualifications as recognised under theCare and Support Workers (Pay Equity) Settlement Act 2017.

    Applicants for this position must be NZ orAustralian Citizens, or have NZ Permanent Residency, or a valid NZ work visa.

    Appointment andongoing employment will be conditional upon criminal record / police checks - youmust declare any convictions and / or pending charges on your application form.

    This may include checks under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
