This year we are pleased to be offering studentships specifically for Māori and Pasifika students. The aim of these studentships is to support rangatahi and for students to combine their scientific and cultural knowledge in a project over the summer.

Description

Up to five Nga Toa Ngaki Kai studentships are available. The project the student selected will undertake will be decided to suit the interests of the student.

Duties

Depending on the project duties could include :

  • Basic lab skills
  • Literature reviews
  • Report writing
  • Presenting to stakeholders at hui around the country about PFR and its science
  • Criteria for the position

    Māori / Pasfika descent

  • An understanding of Te Ao Māori principles and issues important to Māori and / or Pasifika communities
  • Good communication skills
  • Studying / studied in a relevant scientific field at a tertiary level (preferably second / third year of study)
  • Understanding / fluency in Te Reo Māori would be an advantage
  • Basic lab skills could be needed
